Everything that protects a SOLA-TECS system and keeps it serviceable: the water treatment that feeds it, the splash guards and shut-off valve that control it on site, the goosenecks and adapters that set it up, and genuine Cleantecs spares. Kränzle South Africa holds this stock and repairs the equipment locally.

Two things decide whether a SOLA-TECS system stays streak-free and lasts: the water it runs on, and the fittings that control it. Most of a machine's working life is protected or shortened here rather than on the panel. Choose the head on the solar panel cleaning brushes page, the reach on the solar panel cleaning poles page, or buy a matched cleaning kit; this page is everything that goes with them.

Water treatment

The SOLA-TECS C runs on ultrapure, demineralised water, and a high-pressure filter must always be fitted. Untreated water does two kinds of harm: dissolved minerals dry onto the glass as streaks and spots, and the same grit wears the turbine gear head from the inside. Getting the water right is what keeps both the finish and the gearbox in good order, and it works in three steps:

  • Measure it - TDS handheld meter. The meter reads the dissolved-solids level so the water is checked before the machine runs. The limit for the SOLA-TECS C is a maximum conductivity of 30 µS/cm, about 20 ppm; above that, treat the water first.
  • Treat it - mixed-bed resin. Where the supply reads too high, mixed-bed resin brings it down to the demineralised standard the machine needs. It is a working consumable, budgeted for the way bristles are.
  • Protect the machine - high-pressure filter. The HP filter stays fitted whatever the water looks like. It is the last guard on the turbine gear head and one of the pre-start checks on every job.

Splash guards

A splash guard clips to the SOLA-TECS C head and does three things at once: it keeps spray off the operator, it cuts water loss, and it improves rinsing by holding the water where it is working. Guards are matched to the head width, in C400, C600, C800 and C1000 sizes.

WATERSTOP SL shut-off valve

The WATERSTOP SL is a ball valve fitted between the SOLA-TECS C and the lance, so the operator shuts the water off at the head without walking back to the machine. It is nickel-plated brass, rated to 210 bar - comfortably above the system's working pressure - and it saves water and time between panels.

Goosenecks, adapters and hoses

The gooseneck sets the working angle between the pole and the head, and it is system-specific: the modular and telescopic poles each take their own. Adapters connect SOLA-LITE poles to UNGER and other pole systems, and the 25 m high-pressure hoses come in the modular and telescopic fittings. Match the gooseneck and hose to the pole system rather than the brush.

Genuine Cleantecs spares

Because Kränzle South Africa holds SOLA-TECS stock and gear sets locally and repairs the equipment in-country, a machine that earns its keep on site is not grounded waiting on a part from Germany. The consumable and wear items - gear sets, swivel joints, slide brush sets and replacement rollers - are stocked as genuine Cleantecs parts.

Frequently asked questions

How clean does the water need to be for a SOLA-TECS C?

Demineralised, with a maximum conductivity of 30 µS/cm, about 20 ppm, and always with a high-pressure filter fitted. Use the TDS meter to check the supply and mixed-bed resin to bring it down where it reads too high.

Do I really need mixed-bed resin, or can I use tap water?

Tap water almost always reads above the 30 µS/cm limit, spots the glass as it dries and wears the turbine gear head. Mixed-bed resin brings the supply down to the demineralised standard the system needs. It is a running consumable, not an optional extra.

What is a splash guard for?

It clips to the SOLA-TECS C head to keep spray off the operator, reduce water loss and improve rinsing by holding the water where it is working. Guards are sized to the head, in C400, C600, C800 and C1000 widths.

What is the WATERSTOP SL?

A nickel-plated brass ball valve, rated to 210 bar, fitted between the head and the lance so the operator shuts off the water at the head without returning to the machine. It saves water and time between panels.

Do you stock genuine Cleantecs spares in South Africa?

Yes. Kränzle South Africa holds SOLA-TECS stock and gear sets locally and repairs the equipment in-country, so a machine is not grounded waiting on a part from Germany. Gear sets, swivel joints, slide brush sets and replacement rollers are stocked as genuine Cleantecs parts.
