SOLA-TECS C
The SOLA-TECS C is a motorless, water-driven brush system developed for the cleaning and maintenance of solar panel installations. Brush rotation is powered directly by a compatible high-pressure washer, eliminating electric motors and supporting a compact, low-maintenance design suitable for continuous professional use.
Refined construction and water efficiency
The latest SOLA-TECS C features a redesigned base unit focused on improved stability and water efficiency.
A hybrid housing constructed from stainless steel, aluminium and reinforced components provides durability in demanding site conditions. The stainless steel gear shaft is supported by multiple internal bearings and ensures smooth, consistent rotation of the brush.
Now even more effective
A new bristle arrangement and a larger brush diameter of 160 mm provide significantly more power. The brush roller consists of individual, 10 cm wide units. These make it possible to enlarge or reduce the SOLA-TECS C600, C800 and C1000 as required. The brush roller can be customised by the user to widths of 620–1,020 mm to suit the local conditions.
The C400 brush size can neither be reduced nor enlarged.
The SOLA-TECS C is available in multiple brush widths to suit different installation sizes and output requirements.

Two kinds of solar panel cleaning brush
The Cleantecs range splits into powered and manual. The SOLA-TECS C is a water-driven rotary head, and it is the productive choice on open panel field. The SOLA Brush is a manual scrub-and-spray head for smaller installations and for finishing panel edges. Many large-site crews run both: the rotary head clears the open area, the manual brush cleans the borders it cannot reach.
| SOLA-TECS C rotary brush | SOLA Brush manual | |
|---|---|---|
| Drive | Water-driven. Impellers in the gear head spin the brush at approximately 700 rpm | Manual, with five nozzles spraying down onto the panel to loosen dirt |
| Cleaning widths | 420, 620, 820 and 1,020 mm | 400 mm and 580 mm |
| Bristles | PA 6.10 nylon | PA 6.10 nylon |
| Head angle | Fixed to the gooseneck | Infinitely adjustable |
| Suits | Commercial rooftops, ground-mount rows and utility-scale field | Domestic roofs, smaller commercial arrays, and panel edges on large sites |
The AL3 gearbox
Current SOLA-TECS C heads are the AL3 version. Its internal gearbox improvements increase durability and are designed to reduce gearbox damage over the life of the machine; day-to-day operation is unchanged from the earlier AL2. The single biggest thing an operator can do to protect that gearbox is feed the head clean water. Untreated water causes abrasive wear inside the turbine gear system, and the SOLA-TECS C requires demineralised water below 30 µS/cm with a high-pressure filter always fitted.
Nozzles and water flow
The SOLA-TECS C ships with a size 1.2 standard nozzle, which draws approximately 9.2 l/min. Optional 5 litre and 7 litre nozzles are available where lower water consumption matters, and the 5 litre nozzle is the usual choice with the 620 mm brush. A pump delivering around 11 l/min can run both the 5 litre and the standard nozzle, which is the practical reason the Kränzle HD 11/130 TS is the recommended machine for commercial work.
Replacement brush rollers
Bristles are consumable and the rollers are replaceable. All three rollers use PA 6.10 nylon; the difference is bristle thickness and density.
| Roller | Bristle | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Standard replacement brush (0200951) | 0.3 mm PA 6.10 | The standard roller supplied with the head |
| VKM160 | 0.3 mm PA 6.10 | More bristles in a denser arrangement for improved cleaning efficiency. Slightly heavier than standard |
| VKM240 | 0.8 mm PA 6.10 | The only roller with thicker bristles, for heavier soiling |

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the SOLA-TECS C and the manual SOLA Brush?
The SOLA-TECS C is a water-driven rotary head that spins itself at approximately 700 rpm and cleans large open areas productively. The SOLA Brush is a manual scrub-and-spray brush with five nozzles and an adjustable head angle, for smaller arrays and for finishing panel edges. On large sites, crews often use both together.
How do I choose between the C400, C600, C800 and C1000?
By cleaning width and access. The C400 and C600 suit tight rows and smaller arrays, the C800 is the most used size for commercial rooftops in South Africa, and the C1000 covers the most ground per pass on utility-scale field. All four run at the same 100 to 120 bar and 5 to 10 l/min.
Which version of the SOLA-TECS C do you supply, AL2 or AL3?
The current AL3 version. Its gearbox was improved for durability over the earlier AL2, while operation stays the same. Feeding the head clean, demineralised water below 30 µS/cm with a high-pressure filter fitted is the main way to protect that gearbox.
What replacement brush rollers are available?
Three. The standard roller (0200951) and the VKM160 both use 0.3 mm PA 6.10 nylon bristles, with the VKM160 carrying more bristles in a denser arrangement for improved cleaning efficiency. The VKM240 is the only roller with thicker 0.8 mm bristles, for heavier soiling.
Which nozzle should I use?
The standard size 1.2 nozzle, drawing approximately 9.2 l/min, suits most work. Fit the optional 5 litre nozzle to cut water use, particularly with the 620 mm brush. A pump delivering around 11 l/min will run both the 5 litre and the standard nozzle.
Will a solar panel cleaning brush damage the panel coating?
No. Every Cleantecs brush uses soft PA 6.10 nylon bristles chosen for panel glass and coatings, and the rotary head is limited to a working pressure of 100 to 120 bar. The operator works vertically, moving the head away and back again, never sideways or diagonally across the glass.
