A floor scrubber – also called a scrubber dryer or an autoscrubber – cleans a hard floor in a single pass. It lays down a water and detergent solution, scrubs it with a rotary brush, and recovers the dirty water through a vacuum motor and squeegee before the machine has moved on. The floor behind it is walkable immediately, and the soiling leaves the building in the recovery tank rather than going down a drain.
That is the difference from mopping and from a high pressure cleaner. A mop moves dirty water around the floor and leaves it to dry. A high pressure cleaner removes the soiling but leaves the water where it fell, which is why it suits outdoor surfaces and not a warehouse aisle or a showroom floor.
The Gadlee GT50 Plus
Kränzle South Africa imports, supplies and supports the Gadlee GT50 Plus, a battery-powered scrubber dryer for indoor commercial and industrial floors. It scrubs a 500 mm width under 30 kg of brush pressure and recovers through an 815 mm squeegee, covering up to 1,750 m² per hour. It runs on 24 V DC from two 100 Ah traction batteries, so there is no trailing cable, no exhaust and no restriction on where in a building it can work. At 67 dB(A) it can be run during trading hours.
It is used across indoor commercial and industrial floors - small warehouses, retail stores and supermarkets, showrooms and car dealerships, schools, offices, hotels and restaurants, workshops, panel beaters and production floors.

For outdoor hard surfaces – concrete, driveways, pavements, patios and forecourts – where the run-off is not a problem, see surface cleaners, which attach to a high pressure cleaner and need no electrical supply of their own.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a floor scrubber, a scrubber dryer and an autoscrubber?
They are three names for the same machine. A floor scrubber lays down a water and detergent solution, scrubs it with a rotary brush and recovers the dirty water through a vacuum motor and squeegee in a single pass. “Scrubber dryer” describes the recovery stage, and “autoscrubber” is the trade term for the same automatic operation.
What does a floor scrubber do that a mop does not?
It cleans in a single pass and takes the dirty water with it. The machine lays down solution, scrubs it with a rotary brush and recovers the water through a vacuum motor and squeegee before it has moved on, so the floor behind it is walkable immediately and the soiling leaves the building in the recovery tank. A mop moves dirty water around the floor and leaves it to dry.
What area does the Gadlee GT50 Plus cover?
Up to 1,750 m² per hour at a 500 mm cleaning width, with a 50 L solution tank and a 55 L recovery tank. It is used in small warehouses, retail stores, wholesale premises, car dealerships, workshops, panel beaters and storage units.
Is it battery powered?
Yes. It runs on 24 V DC from two 100 Ah traction batteries supplied with the machine, so there is no trailing cable and no exhaust. At 67 dB(A) it can be run during trading hours.
Which battery types does it take?
Flooded lead acid, AGM, GEL and lithium, plus a user-defined profile. It is supplied complete with two 100 Ah traction batteries, sourced locally by Kränzle South Africa. Compatible batteries may be sourced elsewhere if preferred, but the battery type must be configured correctly in the machine after installation.
Should a floor scrubber or a surface cleaner be specified?
A floor scrubber is for indoor hard floors where the water has to be recovered rather than left to run off. A surface cleaner is an attachment for a high pressure cleaner, driven by water pressure alone, and it suits outdoor hard surfaces – concrete, driveways, pavements, patios and forecourts – where the run-off is not a problem.
How heavy is the machine?
71.5 kg without batteries, and approximately 130 kg shipping weight with two 100 Ah batteries fitted. Machine dimensions are 1216 × 502 × 960 mm.
