Cleaning a paved path alongside a house with a high pressure lance

Kränzle builds the Quickly and the K 1050 series for demanding domestic work: a compact housing on the outside, and components from the professional range inside - a forged brass pump head, stainless steel plungers and a roto-moulded chassis. It is professional equipment scaled for a private user.

All run at a fixed 130 bar on a standard 230V supply and take the D10 quick-release accessories. The Quickly comes complete, with the UFO surface cleaner and a foam bottle.

Across the K 1050 series the machine is the same. The 1050 P is portable, with an 8 m hose and no holder. The 1050 TS adds a mobile hose holder. The 1050 TST carries 12 m on an integrated drum with a crank handle.

What it cleans

  • Cars and bakkies - rinse, then lay on foam with the D10 foam bottle and let it soften what is bonded to the paint before rinsing off. The foam does the work that scrubbing would, which is what keeps grit off the paintwork.
  • Paving, driveways and exterior walls - the Dirtkiller rotates a concentrated jet, raising the impact well above a flat-jet nozzle and lifting ingrained dirt and moss. Not for delicate paintwork, soft wood or seals; test an inconspicuous area first.
  • Blocked drains and gutters - the drain cleaning hose feeds itself along the pipe as the trigger is held, clearing the blockage from the far side rather than pushing it further in.
  • Motorcycles, bicycles, quad bikes, garden furniture and garden equipment.

Each of those needs the right attachment. See the home and garden accessories.

Common questions

Which machine should I choose?

Two decisions. First, the Quickly or the K 1050 series: the Quickly is the entry machine at 6.3 L/min and is supplied complete, with the UFO surface cleaner for paving and a foam bottle for vehicles; the K 1050 series delivers 7.5 L/min, which covers a large surface faster at the same pressure, and takes the foam bottle as an option.

Then, within the K 1050 series, it is the same machine three ways - they differ only in the hose and how it is stored. The 1050 P is portable with an 8 m hose, the 1050 TS adds a mobile hose holder, and the 1050 TST has a 12 m hose on an integrated drum. All of them run at a fixed 130 bar and take D10 accessories. The comparison is on the pressure washers page.

What water supply does the machine need?

A garden tap delivering enough flow to keep the pump fed continuously at the machine's rated output, and clean water. Water starvation is the leading cause of high pressure cleaner damage across all brands - a pump run dry or half-fed wears far faster than one that is properly supplied.

Why does a Kränzle cost more than other domestic pressure washers?

The components. The pump head is forged brass, the plungers are stainless steel and the chassis is roto-moulded - the same parts used in the professional range. The pump is a serviceable assembly with accessible wear parts rather than a sealed unit, spares are held for the current range, and machines are repaired and serviced in Cape Town and through the dealer network.

Why shouldn't a domestic machine be used for daily commercial work?

The motor. These machines run at 2,800 r.p.m, which is chosen for size, weight and cost. The professional machines run four-pole motors at 1,400 r.p.m, and running slower is what reduces wear and suits them to sustained daily work. A domestic machine used commercially is being worked at a rate it was not built for. The professional machines are in the full range of Kränzle pressure washers.

What is the warranty, and can the machine be serviced?

Twelve months from date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover routine servicing or the replacement of normal wear items. Machines are serviced and repaired in Cape Town and through the dealer network, and spares are held for the current range.
