Kränzle South Africa supplies the equipment used in commercial car washes and valet bays: cold water high pressure cleaners, stainless steel cabinet and frame-mounted systems, swivel booms and foamers, vacuum cleaners, valet machines and cleaning chemicals. This is commercial and industrial equipment, which is different to the domestic range as it makes use of bigger motors and components and is suitable for continuous use.
The same equipment is used in fleet wash bays, workshops and depots, where vehicles are washed daily rather than occasionally. We have supplied and serviced it in South Africa since 1989. The stainless steel cabinets, frames and wash bay systems are designed and manufactured at our Cape Town facility around genuine Kränzle pumps and motors, and spares and repairs are handled locally, with dealer support nationally.

A swivel boom is mounted in the middle above the area where the car will be washed. It allows the user to walk around the vehicle, thus eliminating hose being dragged along the floor and reducing damage to vehicle mud flaps and mirrors. A suitable solid beam or concrete ceiling must be available to mount the boom, and the machine is piped to it on installation.
A foamer applies the pre-wash chemical to the vehicle as a clinging foam. One stainless steel foaming unit can be installed to service two wash bays, and requires an air compressor and a water point within one metre of the installation point.
Lances, nozzles, high pressure hoses, gun holders and couplings are covered under pressure washer accessories. Nozzle size is matched to the flow and pressure of the machine, as a nozzle outside that range will either reduce working pressure or load the pump. Keeping couplings consistent across the machines in a bay allows one lance or hose to be used at more than one wash point.
Setting up a new carwash
Many enquiries on this page come from operators setting up a carwash for the first time rather than replacing an existing machine. Where an installation is involved, we ask for the water supply available at the wash point, the electrical supply and whether the machine is to be free-standing, frame-mounted or installed in a wall-mounted cabinet. We will then recommend the best-fitting options rather than the largest machine, and will say where a smaller machine is adequate for the application.

What equipment is required for a carwash?
A commercial cold water high pressure cleaner in the range of 10 to 15L/min at 100 to 150 bar, a foamer or foam lance and a pre-wash chemical, a vacuum cleaner for the interior, and the hoses, lances and nozzles to suit the wash point. A swivel boom, a stainless steel cabinet and a valet machine are generally added as the operation develops.
What car wash accessories are needed in a wash bay?
A swivel boom to keep the hose off the floor, a foamer or foam lance to apply the pre-wash chemical, and the lances, nozzles, high pressure hoses, gun holders and couplings to suit the wash point. Nozzle size is matched to the flow and pressure of the machine. See pressure washer accessories.
Can the equipment be serviced locally?
Yes. Spares and repairs are handled from our Cape Town facility, with dealer support nationally. A machine is generally serviced once or twice a year depending on its age and hours of use. Following installation, the sales representative provides operator training covering correct operation, daily inspections, basic maintenance and safety procedures.
Are cleaning chemicals supplied as well?
